Their story

Louis I, Duke of Bourbon, was born in Clermont in 1279. A prominent figure of the House of Bourbon, he was granted the prestigious dukedom in 1327, marking a significant elevation for his lineage. Beyond his ducal title, Louis held a complex array of hereditary claims and responsibilities, including being Monarch of Lower Navarre, co-prince of Andorra, and Count of Foix. His life was interwoven with the political landscape of his era, as was customary for noblemen of his stature. He also held the title of King of France, although it is important to note this was a claim rather than an established independent reign. Louis I passed away in Paris in 1341, leaving behind a substantial legacy for the Bourbon dynasty.
