Their story

James II, Count of La Marche, was born in 1370 into the esteemed House of Bourbon. His life was marked by his ambitious pursuits of power and numerous noble titles. He briefly held the title of King of Naples through marriage. He was also Count of La Marche, Count of Castres, and Lord of Lezay. His involvement in the Hundred Years' War and French court politics positioned him as a notable figure of his era. Though he aspired to wider dominion, his reign as King of Naples was short-lived, and he ultimately retired from secular life. He passed away in 1438 in Besançon.
