Their story
Christine of France, born at the Louvre Palace on February 10, 1606, was a daughter of the House of Bourbon. Through her marriage to Victor Amadeus I, Duke of Savoy, she became Duchess consort. Upon her husband's death, she assumed the regency for their young son, Francis Hyacinth, and later for Charles Emmanuel II. Her reign as regent was marked by political complexities and she carefully navigated the ducal state's interests amidst larger European conflicts. She passed away in Turin on December 27, 1663, leaving a significant legacy in the history of Savoy.
